A football is filled with air with a circumference of 27-28 inches, weighing 410-450gm and covered in leather. The standard ball is a size 5. In American football the ball is a prolate spheroid in shape and measures 11 inches in length and 22 inches in circumference at the center.

A football field measures 91.4 m by 48.8m. It is marked off by latitudinal stripes after every 4.57m and has an end zone at each end by 9.14m.

At the centre of each end zone there are goal posts, which measures 6.10m in height, with a crossbar that is 3.05m from the ground and has uprights in either end which are 73.2m apart.
